HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR WOOD PRODUCT

Redwood, like all other wood products, requires care to keep the wood looking beautiful. Unless your redwood product was ordered “nude”, which is to say unstained, it was treated at the factory with one of our semi-transparent stains. We often use the Superdeck Brand stains so we have listed Superdeck's website address and toll-free number on the lower part of this page. If you have any questions about the care of your redwood product, the nice people at Superdeck Products will be happy to advise you.

If you’ve taken delivery of a “nude” redwood product, be aware that, if left untreated, the wood will eventually turn gray and appear weathered, so that's not a good idea.

In many cases, the store where you bought your spa will carry a line of wood treatment products. These are usually an acceptable substitute for Superdeck Products, if used according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Results may differ, however, from brand to brand.

In any case, be aware that dirt and moisture breed mold and fungi, which can lead to black stains on your redwood product and your deck or cement pad. It is very important to keep your wood product clean, especially where it contacts your deck or cement pad. Water and a light scrubbing every month should do the job. Superdeck has a line of appropriate cleaning products for wood.

If you plan to place our redwood product on a concrete pad, it is important that you seek your concrete contractor’s advice beforehand about the curing time necessary for concrete. It has come to our attention that newly poured concrete can leach the tannins out of wood and leave a stain on the concrete.
